  • Trusses are designed for Residential Use Only.
  • All trusses are designed based on asphalt shingle/plywood roof and drywall ceiling.
  • Trusses are desinged to be installed on 2x4 or 2x6 stud walls only (except PD trusses).
  • No truss can be field modified without written authorization from our office.
  • Sealed drawings for trusses are available at a cost of $12.00 each design and must be requested before fabrication.
  • Wind resistant uplift connectors are not included in price (order separate).
  • Trusses are designed for 90mph wind speed.
  • Trusses (except PD trusses) are loaded as follows:

Top chord .............. 25# (snow) LL, 10# DL
Bottom chord ........ 10# DL
PA
Top chord .............. 30# (snow) LL, 7# DL
Bottom chord ........ 10# DL

Light Storage Trusses are designed for 20# LL additional in storage area only

Attic truss room loads are designed as follows:
Room Height over 7' 0" ................ 40# Live Load
Room Height under 7' 0" .............. 30# Live Load

  • Pole Barn trusses are for Agricultural Use Only.
  • Trusses spaced 4' 0" on center are designed for steel roofing installed
    on purlins 2' 0" and no ceiling.
  • Bottom chord bracing is required. (See engineering drawing for details)
  • PB Trusses are loaded as follows:

Special Design Considerations

Listed below are some (but not all) of the special conditions
that must be designed by our office:

  • Trusses with overhangs over 3' 0"
  • Trusses with cantilevers over 4' 0"
  • Any Attic truss with cantilevers
  • All trusses with Brick Cantilevers
  • Any truss with interior load bearing walls
  • Trusses used for Commercial jobs
  • Scissor trusses that are to be installed on walls wider than 2x6
  • Trusses with special loads or design load other than shown above
  • Trusses spaced wider than 2' 0" (dormers, stairways and chimneys, etc.)
  • Girder trusses
